Pamela Shipley is a New Jersey based mixed media artist who works with natural forms of data to inspire her process. She traces her fascination with data back to childhood. When pursuing a master’s degree at NYU she discovered data’s immense potential to sway policy and opinion. A collecting habit blossomed, as data revealed a deeper dimension and meaning to her. What has emerged for Shipley is a pattern of artistic practice – that of gathering, observing, analyzing and rendering the data as she sees it - and inviting others to interpret it. Her conception and use of data continue to evolve.

"Although “Forces of Nature” is wide-ranging, many objects like these of Shipley and Brookshire provoke specific dialogs well worth further investigation."
